RLWC2021 marked the 125-year anniversary of the global game of Rugby League with the release of the History teaching resources as the latest addition to the unique tournament education programme.

The newly available history teaching resources are now accessible to teachers to download and use. The resources are created by teachers, for teachers and are designed to help deliver themed lessons which capture the cultural history and geographical scope of the tournament.

The ready made History lesson plans focus on the birth of Rugby League, the evolution of the men’s, women’s and wheelchair game and World Cup tournaments as well on pioneers of the sport including the iconic Hull, Great Britain and Wales legend Clive Sullivan.

The RLWC2021 Education Programme launched in August and has already seen more than 500 teachers sign up to use the resources for new academic year. The History resources are the latest in a long list of subjects available to teachers which includes core subjects like Maths and English as well as other important topics such as mental fitness.

This week marks the start of the new term for many schools across England and the first time that the lessons plans will be used with schools returning full time. Already branded as the biggest and best ever Rugby League World Cup in history, the RLWC2021 Education Programme will not only educate but also motivate the next generation of Rugby League fans.

The schools and teaching staff who signed up to the education resources will also have access to ticket offers and competitions to win exciting Rugby League World Cup 2021 prizes including trophy visits, ambassador visits, RLWC2021 memorabilia and much more.

The Rugby Football League celebrated the 125-year anniversary in style from its birthplace in the George Hotel, Huddersfield where the Paul Barrière Trophy was also in attendance to celebrate the occasion.
