RLWC2021 and Goal Click launches new collection

Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) has partnered with global storytelling organisation Goal Click to give fans a behind the scenes insight as teams enter the final stages of preparation for the tournament.

Goal Click gives people the power and opportunity to tell personal stories about their sporting lives, teams, and communities, using photography from disposable cameras and their own words. The RLWC2021 project gave players from across the world the chance to show what rugby league means to them.

RLWC2021 and Goal Click received photos and stories from a range of nations and teams, from Lebanon and Jamaica to England and Cook Islands. Players documented their own journeys to all three tournaments at the RLWC2021 - Men's, Women's, and Wheelchair. The gallery is now live across RLWC2021 and Goal Click's digital channels.

Jon Dutton, Chief Executive for RLWC2021, said:

"The range of photos we received from Goal Click has been truly fascinating, and a brilliant way for fans to see behind-the-scenes as players capture their lives, preparations, and matches ahead of the most important tournament of their careers.
"It's another innovative way for us to bring fans closer to rugby league, and I'd like to thank Goal Click for giving us this opportunity and providing a platform for players to portray their own stories."

Matthew Barrett, Founder of Goal Click, said:

"This is a genuinely exciting moment for Goal Click as we launch our first ever project outside of football. We could not have hoped for a better partner for this than the Rugby League World Cup 2021. The incredible diversity of the competing nations combined with having players from the Men's, Women's, and Wheelchair tournaments has created a compelling set of stories.
"Our aim was to show a real range of rugby league experiences and scenes - from elite players in Australia and England to pioneers of the game in Greece, USA, Canada, and Lebanon. We think the photos give a candid, intimate, and often unseen view into the lives of players as they have prepared for one of the biggest events of their lives."
