A seven-strong group from Bradford, West Yorkshire have won the race to become the ‘Face of the Fans’ at the Rugby League World Cup 2021 finals.

They will feature on the World Cup finals ticket, due to be circulated to over 70,000 people attending Old Trafford, Manchester (27 November 2021) for the women’s and men’s final, and a further 11,000 people attending the wheelchair final (26 November 2021) at M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.

Austin family, made up of Chris, Natalie, Hanna, Leah and Brian alongside Aaron Senior (Leeds LDRL player) and Ben Berry (Leeds LDRL coach) complete ‘The Bold and Brave Squad’.

The lucky squad participated in a professional photoshoot at their beloved Odsal Stadium, home to Bradford Bulls Rugby League club. The ‘squad’ will now feature on the aforementioned finals ticket design, which will be revealed later this summer.

That's not all, each squad member will also receive a complimentary category A match ticket to the double-header final at Old Trafford on Saturday 27 November.

Like so many around the country, the group have been starved of live Rugby League action. Now, as the lucky competition winners, they will have the chance to see the world's elite stars, and best teams in the tournament take to the field, to lift their respective trophies.

"Our squad is small, but we are desperate to get back into stadiums," said Chris, dad of the Austin family. "What better way than watching the best players on the planet."

Though the Austin family have followed Bradford Bulls for many years, this autumn's spectacle will be their youngest daughter Leah's first experience of international Rugby League.

"Leah is only nine," mum, Natalie, explains. "She hasn't had a chance to experience top-class Rugby League, so this World Cup is going to be extra special for us."

Lifelong Bulls fans, Aaron and Ben, are equally thrilled to have been selected. With their place at the double-header final secured, the pair are clear on the outcome they would like to see.

"We are most looking forward to seeing England go one better this time and lift the World Cup!”

Aaron and Ben were selected to represent Leeds Rhinos Learning Disability Rugby League team after an excellent submission by the team to our ‘Face of the Fans’ competition didn’t go unnoticed by RLWC2021.

Jon Dutton, CEO of the Rugby League World Cup 2021 said, “Authenticity and inclusivity are just two of the values that we live by at RLWC2021.

“We are thrilled to have real and most of all passionate Rugby League fans represent the tournament on our finals ticket design, a big congratulations to the Austin family as well as Aaron and Ben representing the Leeds Rhinos LDRL team”.
