Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) hosts Liverpool, Sheffield and Coventry today joined the growing list of venues opening their doors to fans through a digital tournament booking platform – ‘Squad Trips’ - that will enhance the event experience for thousands of World Cup supporters.
The innovative one-stop shop ‘Squad Trips’ will provide instant access to match tickets as part of a package with accommodation and local attractions and experiences in host cities which now include Liverpool, Coventry and Sheffield as well as Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds and York – incorporating the venues for the high demand final and opening game weekends.
Additionally, fans who have already booked their place at RLWC2021 during the highly successful ticket sales phases have the chance to add accommodation and/or activities to their previous ticket purchases and create memories outside the 80 minutes of thrilling action - offering something for every fan whether they are attending their first match or a loyal supporter.
Liverpool - a city with unique attractions, exciting events, world class sporting offerings, unrivalled musical heritage, and famously warm welcomes – are the only RLWC2021 host city that will see games across all three tournaments - men’s, women’s and wheelchair - played in this unique Rugby League World Cup.
On Saturday 13 November, the world famous Anfield will play host to the much-anticipated men’s quarter final and women’s Group A game between England women and Canada women in a historic double header. On Friday 26 November more history will be created at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool’s World Heritage Waterfront when the wheelchair world champions will be crowned at a showpiece final in the city.
Sheffield is a vibrant city bustling with character and creativity. Known the world over as “The Steel City”, Sheffield was famed for the industry in the heyday of the 1900’s and remains a city of innovation to this day. RLWC2021 will be played at two venues in the city - both with a rich sporting history. Further sporting history will be made when England men take on debutants Greece in the crucial Group A match on Saturday 6 November at Bramall Lane.
The multi-use sport venue at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield will play host to four double headers across the wheelchair tournament including the semi-finals on Sunday 21 November.
The eclectic town of Coventry, home to rich history and ancient legends, two internationally renowned universities and an abundance of unique arts and culture will host the important fixture in men’s group B between Australia and Scotland on Friday 29 October.
Jonathan Neill, the RLWC2021 Commercial Director, said: “We are delighted that our host cities of Liverpool, Sheffield and Coventry have joined our ‘Squad Trips’ platform which provides an easy and accessible experience for the thousands of fans who are looking to secure their seat, accommodation and enjoy the hospitality and attractions of our host town and cities.
