Assura, a FTSE 250 company, develops, invests in and manages a portfolio of almost 600 primary care medical centres which are bases for NHS teams serving millions of people across the United Kingdom.

The sponsorship with RLWC2021 is Assura’s first in sport, and they joined Eversheds Sutherland, Deloitte, Manchester Metropolitan University, Kappa, Kuehne+Nagel and Cazoo as official sponsors of the tournament.

The RLWC2021 Grants Programme was launched by Lois Forsell, RLWC2021 Healthy Lives Ambassador, who said:

“The Assura Community Fund RLWC2021 Grants Programme will make a huge difference to the lives of many people within Rugby League communities.
“I’d urge all appropriate charitable and voluntary sector organisations, alongside Rugby League community clubs, to get involved.
“At an unbelievably trying time for the nation this will provide opportunities for some of the most deprived communities in the country to rebuild.
“Assura has a rich history of delivering funding for transformational projects and this is another example of a purpose led partnership that will create positive social impacts.”

Assura CEO, Jonathan Murphy, said:

“As a business based in the Rugby League heartland of Warrington, we’re passionate about the chance to connect local health projects, volunteers and primary care in some of the most deprived communities across the country.
“The scale of the task ahead to rebuild community health beyond the current pandemic is clear but these grants can play a part by supporting local health projects to reduce isolation, rebuild health confidence, skills and lessen health inequalities.”
