Jodie Cunningham - Community Engagement Lead
Jodie, what do you like most about your role as Community Engagement Lead?
I love that every week is different working for the world cup. In my day to day role working on the social impact programme, I have the opportunity to meet and work with amazing companies and individuals to develop strategies on leaving long lasting legacies for our communities. I also have the privilege of representing the women’s side of the tournament at various events to grow the profile of our incredible sport leading into the tournament, something which I am extremely passionate about.
Jodie, you've played rugby league since you were a little girl, what is your favourite memory?
I was fortunate enough to play in the RLWC2017 in Australia and all my close family flew out to see me play. I went into the world cup carrying an injury so when I walked off the pitch after our opening game win against Papua New Guinea, all my family were in floods of tears, mainly of relief that I had managed to get through the 80 minutes. It was a very special moment in my rugby league playing career and is what I always refer back to when training or games get tough because it reminds me that all the hard work is worth it.
