DIPESH ASHER - COMMUNITY INVESTMENT & FUNDING OFFICER
What attracted to you working for RLWC2021?
Working on the legacy programme as part of the biggest world event in the rugby league calendar is a unique opportunity that doesn’t come around often. By starting to accept and award CreatedBy RLWC2021 Capital Grants 3 years prior to and in the run up to the tournament is exciting and I’m pleased to be working alongside a dedicated team that will help lots of local communities, clubs and education establishments to benefit significantly from the programme.
What is your favourite sporting memory?
Being part of ‘The Crew 2002’ (team of volunteers as it was called) at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games was an amazing experience. It was just a great buzz to be involved with an incredible atmosphere in and around Manchester at that time and I’m delighted I was able to contribute in a small way to the delivery of a successful Games.
If you weren’t a Community Funding & Investment Officer, what would you be?
If I wasn’t working within sports administration, I most probably would be working in IT.
